
With
the patronage of the Regional Authority of Friuli-Venezia Giulia and the support
of the Provincial Authority of Udine, of the Municipal Authorities of Udine
and of the Fondazione Cassa di Risparmio di Udine e Pordenone, the Società
Indologica "Luigi Pio Tessitori" organized
from 19 to 28 November 1998
a
festival of European films on Mito e realtà nelll'India dei cineasti
europei. The
festival, held in Udine and Pordenone, offered an opportunity to enjoy some
significant works produced by European film-makers over the last forty years.
The works chosen for the festival Mito
e realtà nell'India dei cineasti europei
were India (Roberto Rossellini, 1958), Appunti per un film sull'India
(Pier Paolo Pasolini, 1967), Calcutta (Louis Malle, 1969), Boatman
(Gianfranco Rosi, 1993), Devi (Satyajit Ray, 1960) and Vrindavan
Film Studios (Lamberto Lambertini, 1996). The following speakers
took part in the inaugural ceremonies of the festival: Enrico Fasana (University
of Trieste), Marco Rossitti (University of Udine), Fausto Freschi (Società
Indologica "Luigi Pio Tessitori") and Benedetto Parisi (Società
Indologica "Luigi Pio Tessitori").
