India: tradizione e innovazioneFrom 4 to 10 October 2001 the Società Indologica «Luigi Pio Tessitori» promoted in Udine the meeting India: tradizione e innovazione, with the patronage of the Regional Authority of Friuli Venezia Giulia, the support of the Provincial Authority of Udine, the Municipal Authorities of Udine and the Fondazione Cassa di Risparmio di Udine e Pordenone, in the framework of the «EU-India Economic Cross-Cultural Programme». On 4 October a lecture on L'antica sapienza delle Upanishad was given by Carlo Della Casa (University of Milan), Donatella Dolcini (University of Milan) and Agata Pellegrini Sannino (University of Palermo). Later that same day at Palazzo Belgrado, Paolo Durisotto (University of London) presented the documentary Rajasthan. I palazzi del deserto directed by Benedetto Parisi (Società Indologica «Luigi Pio Tessitori»). On 5 October in the hall of the Association of Industrialists the final worshop of the project Europe and India: Past, Present and Future, co-financed by the European Commission in the framework of the «EU-India Economic Cross-Cultural Programme», was held. After the addresses of welcome by Furio Honsell, Vice-Chancellor of the University of Udine, Sujatha Singh, Consul General of India and Hans Sabaditsch, Consul General of Austria, there were speeches by Giovanni Bianchi (International Centre for Mechanical Sciences, Udine), Fausto Freschi (Società Indologica «Luigi Pio Tessitori»), Peter Hacker (OFPZ Arsenal, Vienna), Bernhard Schrefler (International Centre for Mechanical Sciences, Udine), Paolo Serafini (University of Udine) and B.G. Sidharth (B.M. Birla Science Centre). Finally, on 10 October in the hall of the Fondazione Cassa di Risparmio di Udine e Pordenone the editorial project Devī-Māhātmya: il ms. 4510 della Biblioteca Civica «Vincenzo Joppi» di Udine was officially presented by the following contributors: Gianfranco Fiaccadori (University of Udine), Alessandro Passi (University of Bologna), Cinzia Pieruccini (University of Milan), Elena Preda (University of Bologna) and Romano Vecchiet (Biblioteca Civica «Vincenzo Joppi». |
